Fergie predicts quiet summer
30 Jun 2008 - 11:27:52
Sir Alex Ferguson doesn't expect to add more than one player to his double-winning Manchester United squad before the new season kicks-off.
Ferguson is back at his desk following a summer holiday but does not expect to complete much transfer business after winning the Premier League and Champions League last term.
Much of the focus on United's summer transfer plans have involved the ongoing saga surrounding the future of Cristiano Ronaldo.
The Portugal winger has been linked with a world record transfer fee move to Spain despite the Red Devils insisting he is not for sale.
"The European Championship derails transfer activity. Nothing really happens when the championships are on," said the veteran Scot.
"Obviously, now that is all over, people settle down.
"Managers are back at their clubs and you can get some dialogue now if they're interested, but I wouldn't think (United will sign) any more than one player.
"We're looking at one or two things."
