Fergie praise for Howard
29 Nov 2006 - 08:02:19
Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson insists on-loan Everton goalkeeper Tim Howard still has a future at Old Trafford.
The USA international will sit out Wednesday evening's meeting of the two sides, but has done enough during his time at Goodison Park to convince Ferguson that he can still make the grade with the Red Devils.
The 27-year-old's United career had looked to be over when he lost the number one jersey following the arrival of Edwin Van der Sar then slipped further down the pecking order with the arrival of Tomasz Kuszczak.
"Tim has been doing really well at Everton, which is what we hoped for," said Ferguson.
"The potential has always been there because he has great elasticity, he is brave, has a good spring and is an excellent distributor of the ball. All he needed was the experience and now he is getting it.
"I have spoken to David Moyes and he is delighted at how Tim has been playing.
"But it is certainly a possibility he could come back to us, no question about that."
