Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has compared goalkeeper Tomasz Kuszczak to Old Trafford legend Peter Schmeichel.
Kuszczak will deputise for broken nose victim Edwin Van der Sar in Saturday's FA Cup fifth round clash with Reading and Ferguson's has no qualms about handing the Poland youngster an extended run in the first team.
Van der Sar is expected to return for Tuesday's Champions League meeting with Lille, but Kuszczak impressed the veteran United boss with his demeanour between the sticks during last weekend's 2-0 victory over Charlton Athletic.
"Tomasz has been doing very well and he was excellent against Charlton," he told the club's official website.
"His composure and kicking was good and he's an excellent handler of the ball. The more football he gets, the better he'll become.
"Tomasz always looked upon Schmeichel as his hero and used Peter as his role model.
"He has fitted in well with the back four and is a very vocal character.
"He's a little bit like Schmeichel in that sense and he will certainly let the defenders know he's there. We are very pleased with the progress he has made."
