Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson believes both Wayne Rooney and Nemanja Vidic could be fit for Saturday's Premier League clash with West Ham United.
Rooney and Vidic missed Tuesday's 1-0 Champions League semi-final success over Barcelona with hip and head injuries respectively.
But the pair could return to the squad for Saturday's crunch league encounter with the Hammers which the Red Devils need to win to keep ahead of Chelsea in the race for the title.
Referring to Rooney who has been carrying a hip problem for the past two weeks, Ferguson said: "He may have a chance for Saturday.
"We just cancelled him out yesterday, he was in a lot of pain. It was his hip joint, he was never close to playing. It was out of the question.
"He will be a lot better in a few days and involved on Saturday somewhere along the line."
Meanwhile, Vidic could also return despite taking a heavy blow to the head in the 2-1 defeat to Chelsea last Saturday.
"Vidic is under the control of the doctor," continued Ferguson.
"He got a bit of concussion, so we have to be careful of that. He may have a chance for Saturday."
Left-back Patrice Evra is also expected to be fit despite being stretchered off with a head injury in the closing stages against Barcelona.
