Fergie fury at Wembley elbow

SIR Alex Ferguson launched a stinging double attack on Michael Ballack and referee Chris Foy after watching his side go down in the Community Shield. United lost 4-1 on penalties to Chelsea after a 2-2 draw at Wembley - but Fergie was furious afterwards, accusing Ballack of elbowing Patrice Evra. And he also laid into the referee for failing to show the German international a red card for his X-rated challenge. That Chelsea went on to score their second goal while Evra was still writhing on the ground only incensed Ferguson and his United players all the more. Ferguson said: "You can see exactly what's happened. Ballack has elbowed the boy and the referee is in line. The least he should have done is stop the game because Evra has gone down. "If the referee sees it properly it's a red. He's elbowed him clearly and the referee is in clear view of it." Ferguson had it out with Foy at the end of the match and then went on to watch Ryan Giggs and Evra fluff their spot kicks in the shoot-out. Another concern for United is an injury to Nani, who dislocated his shoulder. Nani had earlier fired the Reds ahead with a stunning goal before Ricardo Carvalho and Frank Lampard scored after the break. Wayne Rooney's injury time goal ensured the game went to penalties, but Ferguson was angry with his side for not killing the game off in the first half. He also had a mild rebuke for Ben Foster, who is hoping to become No1 for club and country. "He should have done better with their second goal," said the United manager, "but I have no worries about him." What do you think? Have your say.
