Fergie earns manager gong

Manchester United's Sir Alex Ferguson has been named as the Premier League Manager of the Month for September.

The award is the 24th of Ferguson's illustrious career, with the Red Devils topping the table in search of a fourth straight league title.

Last month United started with a 3-1 victory at Tottenham Hotspur, before winning an exhilarating derby 4-3 against Manchester city at Old Trafford.

They finished off September with a solid 2-0 triumph at Stoke City, as result which saw United overtake Chelsea at the top of the standings.

Ferguson's side also tasted victory in their two Champions League fixtures last month, winning 1-0 at Besiktas and 2-1 at home to Wolfsburg.
