Fergie backs United stars

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has backed his young strike duo Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo to come good in the Champions League.
Rooney has not scored for the Red Devils in the Champions League since his debut hat-trick against Fenerbahce in September 2004, while Ronaldo's only European goal for United came in a qualifying round clash with Debrecen in August 2005.
Ahead of the meeting with AS Roma in the Italian capital, Ferguson said: "I don't know why the pair of them have not scored in the Champions League.
"We have not scored a lot of goals in Europe over the last two years at all, which is obviously a factor.
"Maybe it is just a case of them adapting to European football because they are both young players.
"But I don't have an issue with either of them. Wayne's contribution has been very good, while I believe Cristiano is the best player in the world right now."
Meanwhile, Ferguson believes that his side need to score in Rome to avoid the fate that befell French champions Lyon in the last round, after they were betaen 2-0 at home in the second leg by Roma.
The Scot added: "We need to score. A goalless draw is a dangerous scoreline. Lyon were the better team in Rome, but you saw what happened in France."
