Fergie: We made it difficult
18 Oct 2009 - 10:32:15
Sir Alex Ferguson admitted Manchester United made life hard for themselves during Saturday's 2-1 victory over Bolton Wanderers.
A Zat Knight own goal and first for the Red Devils by summer signing Luis Antonio Valencia had put United into a comfortable 2-0 lead at Old Trafford.
However, Matt Taylor's reply 15 minutes from time set up a nervy end to a match which ultimately sent the champions back to the top of the Premier League table.
"It was more tense than we would have liked," said a relieved Ferguson afterwards.
"We made it hard for ourselves and we were panicking at times. But we got through it, just."
Meanwhile, Ferguson refused to get carried away despite seeing main title rivals Chelsea and Arsenal both lose on a day of shocks.
"This is a tough league," added the veteran Scot.
"There have been some surprise results already. But we have had a couple ourselves, losing at Burnley and drawing at home to Sunderland."
