Fergie: United window closed
02 Jan 2009 - 14:27:43
Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed that Manchester United will not be involved in any more transfer window business this month following his double capture of Serbian duo Zoran Tosic and Adem Ljajic.
United have agreed to pay Partizan Belgrade up to £16.3million for 21-year-old international winger Tosic and 17-year-old prospect Ljajic.
Tosic will join the club with immediate effect, while Ljajic will remain with Partizan for the rest of 2009.
Ferguson does now not anticipate any more transfer movement either in or out of the Old Trafford club in what he believes will be a quiet transfer window.
"That is the end of the transfer business at Manchester United this year," he said.
"There will definitely not be anything else this January."
Speaking about Tosic, who is viewed as the long-term replacement for veteran winger Ryan Giggs, Ferguson added: "We have watched him for over a year.
"Hopefully he does well but we will have to give him time because he has not played since December 10.
"He will need to get used to the tempo of our game and the training but he could play for us this season."
