Fergie: Rooney is sensational

11 March 2010 07:55
Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson hailed another magnificent performance from Wayne Rooney after the Red Devils cruised into the quarter-finals of the Champions League. Rooney scored twice in a 4-0 thrashing of AC Milan at Old Trafford to take his season's tally to 30 for United, with the Rossoneri trounced 7-2 on aggregate by the Premier League champions. Afterwards, Ferguson commented: "His performance was a continuation of his form in the last few months - just sensational and unbelievable. "I was happy with him getting to the 30 mark, to be honest, but he just keeps improving and tonight he was sensational." Meanwhile, Ferguson fired a warning to the rest of Europe that he is not too concerned about who United face in the last eight. He added: "I was surprised at Real Madrid's result tonight, but European football is very tough now. "In the last few years English clubs have done very well and I think they will be there again. "It doesn't matter who we play in the quarters. We are there and hopefully we take advantage. "When we play with that tempo, we're difficult to play against. It was a real solid Manchester United performance."
