Fergie: Rooney is going nowhere
16 Apr 2010 - 14:24:13
Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has rubbished reports linking Wayne Rooney with a record-breaking summer move to Real Madrid.
United sold Cristiano Ronaldo to the big-spending Spanish giants for a world record fee of £80million last summer.
However, Ferguson is adamant that reports claiming Rooney could be on his way to the Santiago Bernabeu for £90million are totally without foundation.
Rooney has already bagged a career-best 34 goals for the Red Devils this season.
"It is the silly season isn't it," said Ferguson.
"It always happens at the end of the season. Wayne Rooney will still be here next year."
Meanwhile, Ferguson has confirmed that Rooney could return from an ankle ligament injury against Manchester City in Saturday's must-win derby showdown at Eastlands.
