Fergie: Real to return for Ron

    21 Sep 2008 - 11:47:05

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson fully expects Real Madrid to make another move for Cristiano Ronaldo when the transfer window reopens in January.

The 23-year-old Portugal international was embroiled in a long-running saga with the Spanish champions during the summer after suggesting he was keen to continue his career in Madrid.

Ferguson continually dismissed claims that Ronaldo could leave and successfully persuaded last season's 42-goal top-scorer that his future remained at Old Trafford.

But despite keeping hold of Ronaldo, Ferguson believes Real will launch a fresh bid to try and lure him away again at the earliest possible opportunity.

"Of course Real Madrid won't go away," he told the Sunday Mirror.

"I said when Gabby Heinze left the club that Madrid could resurface for Ronaldo.

"It is going to happen again. It will all start up again in January. But I am ready for that to happen now."
