Fergie: No problem with protest
10 Mar 2010 - 09:13:24
Sir Alex Ferguson has played down the significance of the ongoing fans' protest against the ownership of the club ahead of Manchester United's Champions League clash with AC Milan.
The growing movement against the Glazer family's ownership of the Red Devils is expected to be in evidence at Old Trafford during the second leg of the last 16 European tie.
The green and gold scarves which have become the symbol of the opposition to the American owners have become more apparent with each passing home game.
Meanwhile, talk of a takeover from a group of wealthy financiers dubbed the 'Red Knights' continues to rumble on.
However, despite the growing mood of disenchantment on the terraces, Ferguson does not believe the fan protests will undermine what is happening on the pitch.
"Old Trafford will be rocking and I am sure whether they are wearing the traditional red and white or the protest green and gold scarves the supporters will be united and speaking with one voice to get us safely through," he declared.
Speaking about reports of a protest delaying the kick-off on Wednesday night, Ferguson added: "They won't do that, it is too important a game."
