Fergie: Evra is best left-back
28 Apr 2010 - 09:29:33
Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has proclaimed Patrice Evra to be the best left-back currently in world football.
The France full-back has made 49 appearances in all competitions for the Red Devils this season and has impressed Ferguson with his consistent form.
Evra was also included in the recent Professional Footballers' Association team of the year ahead of Chelsea and England left-back Ashley Cole.
"The form of Evra has been sensational all season," said Ferguson. "There's no-one near Evra's consistency. No-one.
"He's the one player who has not missed any games. He's only not started one Premier League game all season.
"We rested him at Blackburn because he I think he needed a break then, but he came on as a sub there and has done tremendously well since then."
The 28-year-old joined the Red Devils from Monaco in 2006 and has made 195 appearances for the Old Trafford club.
