Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson claims the Premier League is still the best and most competitive in the world.
United have sold World and European football of the year Cristiano Ronaldo to Real Madrid this summer and lost last season's Champions League Final to Barcelona.
But Ferguson has refused to accept that the power in European football is now in Spain's La Liga.
"I don't know how they can say that. There is no evidence," he declared.
"Over the years the Premier League has become the most competitive in Europe. I have no doubt in my mind about that.
"Barcelona deservedly won the European Cup last season but if you look over the last four or five years, the English teams have shared the real glory of Europe.
"I still feel the Premier League is the toughest in Europe."
