Ferdinand trains as normal

Rio Ferdinand has been training as normal ahead of Manchester United's Champions League encounter with Braga at Old Trafford on Tuesday.

The defender defied Sir Alex Ferguson on Saturday by refusing to wear a T-shirt supporting the anti-racism Kick It Out campaign ahead of United's 4-2 win over Stoke, leading his manager to state publicly that the 33-year-old would be "dealt with".

But there have been suggestions that the pair resolved their differences at a meeting on Sunday morning and Ferdinand did train with the remainder of his team-mates at Carrington ahead of the game.

The chances of Ferdinand playing have increased as Chris Smalling is still to start full training after suffering a broken metatarsal during pre-season.

It means Ferguson still only has three centre-backs - Ferdinand, Jonny Evans and rookie Scott Wootton.

Meanwhile, Ashley Young could be involved for the first time since suffering a knee injury in August.

United have started their European campaign well with a 100 per cent record after two games following victories over Galatasaray and Cluj.
