Ferdinand confident over fitness
21 Aug 2010 - 14:06:53
Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand is confident of avoiding injury when he makes his latest comeback next month.
Ferdinand is expected to return from the knee ligament problem which ended his hopes of playing for England at the World Cup finals towards the end of September.
The 31-year-old has been plagued by back and groin injuries in recent seasons and started just 13 Premier League games last term.
However, Ferdinand believes his injury problems will finally be a thing of the past when he makes his latest comeback.
He explained: "I am good, I am working hard with the physios and the fitness guys at the club and doing a lot of rehab.
"Hopefully, fingers crossed, I will be back pulling on the shirt soon.
"It has been well-documented that in the past I have rushed back too many times and broken down.
"But hopefully this time I have done it the right way."
