    Fab's captaincy dilemma

    15 Jan 2008 - 09:16:28

New England manager Fabio Capello says he has yet to decide who he will name as captain of the national team.

Chelsea's John Terry is widely expected to continue in the role, but the likes of Gary Neville and Michael Owen may also be contenders.

The issue is set to be further clouded by Capello's first game in charge, a friendly against Euro 2008 co-hosts Switzerland on February 6, which is likely to see David Beckham win his 100th cap and possibly lead the side.

"The captaincy is a very important decision," Capello admitted.

"There are many things I have to evaluate and I must come up with a choice that is right.

"A captain must be a leader, someone who carries the team, somebody that in every moment is important for the team.

"I am still deciding whether to pick a definitive captain or a provisional one. First, I need to know all the candidates well, because it is such an important choice."
