FA Dysfunctional Says Sir

A "dysfunctional" disciplinary system is what Sir Alex Ferguson has accused the Football Association of running after they decided no action was to be taken against Steve Gerard. Recently Rio Ferdinand picked up a four match ban after his attack on Hull’s Craig Fagan was caught on camera at Old Trafford, but Gerard has managed a similar challenge on Portsmouth’s Michael Brown and just before that he was involved in a v sign incident in front of referee Andre Marriner. Both incidents go unpunished which means that Gerard gets to play in the game against United this weekend, and Ferguson was not surprised at the decisions. "I didn't expect anything to happen to Steven Gerrard. It (the disciplinary panel) is a dysfunctional unit. I don't know what they are doing." Ferguson has long held the view that his side are disadvantaged in their dealings with the FA. "There is no consistency for a start and I didn't expect to get any," continued Ferguson. "I am not too bothered about it. They can do what they want down there. It is crazy at times."
