England duo miss training

However, Ferdinand and Cole did not take part in the first session after being allowed to rest injuries picked up recently. Ferdinand had been sidelined for three weeks with a calf injury before returning to action in Manchester United's UEFA Champions League final defeat by Barcelona last Wednesday. Cole, meanwhile, picked up a knock during Chelsea's 2-1 victory over Everton in the FA Cup final at Wembley at the weekend. James Milner did feature in training after the Aston Villa winger was called into the squad to replace Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick, who withdrew due to a foot injury.
