    Edwin planning to play on

    30 Aug 2006 - 08:13:02

Manchester United's veteran goalkeeper Edwin Van der Sar believes he has at least another two years left at the top.

The 35-year-old is in the final year of his contract at Old Trafford, but his form since he joined United from Fulham last summer has been so good that Sir Alex Ferguson has already guaranteed him an extended deal.

"I don't know how long I will continue but it should be at least another two years," said the Dutchman.

"That is the aim and we will see what happens after that.

"I am enjoying myself in Manchester. Things are going well and I am happy, so there is no reason to think about anything else."

Although Van der Sar is not certain whether the summer of 2008 will mark the end of his professional career, he has decided to retire from international football after the Euro 2008 finals.

The 113-times capped Netherlands international added: "After that [the World Cup], I just felt I wanted to carry on for a bit longer, although the European Championships will be my last major tournament."
