Edwin happy to continue
08 Jan 2008 - 07:26:09
Veteran goalkeeper Edwin Van der Sar has revealed he is not even considering retirement after signing a new contract with Manchester United.
The 37-year-old Netherlands international put pen to paper on a fresh one-year contract in December.
But despite picking up a series of niggling injuries this season - and returning to the side at the weekend after a four-match absence - the former Juventus, Ajax and Fulham keeper is not yet contemplating hanging up his boots.
"I am pleased to be staying on for another year. It is the same situation as last year," he told the club's official website.
"We said we would re-evaluate in December and that is exactly what we did.
"Both parties are happy, so there was no reason to quit. I am still feeling good.
"I am happy with the way the team are playing, so it is a joy to be here."
Van der Sar joined United in summer 2005 from Fulham and has made 119 appearances for the Old Trafford club.
