    Edwin focuses on recovery

    18 Oct 2009 - 14:12:48

Veteran Manchester United goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar will wait a while longer before deciding whether to extend his illustrious career by another season.

The 38-year-old Netherlands international made his first appearance of the campaign in the 2-1 victory over Bolton Wanderers at Old Trafford this weekend, having been sidelined by injury since the summer.

Van der Sar said after the win over the Trotters: "My main aim has been to get fit.

"I had an operation on my fingers in the summer and it took a while before I could even catch a ball again.

"The moment you are able to get out and start training again is like a release. That is the thing you like to do most.

"It has been hard not having that, which is why I am not looking any further ahead than playing and enjoying myself."

Van der Sar has been with United since the summer of 2005 and is closing in on the 200-appearance mark for the club.

He previously made his name during spells with Fulham, Juventus and Ajax, while he is also the most capped Dutch player of all-time.
