Goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar believes Manchester United's experience makes them the team most likely to win the Premier League title this season.

The 39-year-old Dutchman has been a key part of the squad that has won the last two titles.

This season the Red Devils are two points off the pace set by leaders Chelsea but could leapfrog their rivals for at least 24 hours with victory over struggling Portsmouth at Old Trafford on Saturday.

"Experience definitely helps," van der Sar told the club's official website. "You've been there before - through narrow escapes and must-win games. You know how to handle them.

"The more you go through these situations the better you are at dealing with them.

"There's a moment in your career where it clicks and you think, 'I"ve been in this situation before, I know what to do, I know what to expect'. That comes in handy sometimes."
