Does Carling Cup away goals rule favour City?
Published : 21 Jan 2010 11:44:56
MANCHESTER City take a 2-1 lead to Old Trafford next week in the Carling Cup semi-final second leg against Manchester United. And because of the Carling Cup's unusual away goals rule, it could be argued the Blues have an extra advantage going into the game. Away goals only count in extra time in this competition, meaning that if the second leg ended 1-0 to United after 90 minutes, City would still be given an extra 30 minutes to save the game. Under European rules, a 1-0 win for United in normal time would be enough to send the Reds through. What is your verdict on the Carling Cup away goals rule? Have your say.
