Dida blow boosts United
17 Apr 2007 - 11:19:38
AC Milan goalkeeper Dida is set to miss next week's Champions League semi-final first leg showdown with Manchester United after suffering a shoulder injury.
The Brazil international picked up the problem after colliding with a post during Sunday's 3-1 Serie A win at Messina.
Dida has been given permission to sit out training and reserve goalkeeper Zeljko Kalac will start against Ascoli in Wednesday's Serie A fixture.
The former Cruzeiro and Corinthians keeper has already missed around three months of Milan's season with separate knee ligament and shoulder injuries.
"We're worried,'' Milan doctor Jean Pierre Meersseman told Gazzetta dello Sport.
"We want to get a better understanding of the situation but we can't yet because Dida's shoulder is swollen.
"On Thursday, if the swelling has gone down, we will carry out more tests.
"Naturally, the goal is Manchester, but there's not much hope."
