Depay admits a move could be on as United and Spurs prepare swoop on World Cup starlet

Memphis Depay, the transfer target of both Manchester United and Tottenham has admitted that he could leave PSV Eindhoven in the transfer window believing he has served his time with the Dutch outfit:

"I have done my time at PSV but if nice clubs from big leagues ask, I will think about it. There is lots of interest but it is definitely an option to stay."

"I understand fans want me to play well this season in Eindhoven, but I'm one who decides how my career will look, no one else."

A number of Premier League clubs will have taken his comments as something of a statement of readiness to move on to a bigger league and bigger club.

According to a report in the Mirror, the 20-year-old who so impressed at the World Cup after a strong Eredivisie campaign is of interest to both Louis Van Gaal and Mauricio Pochettino. The Spurs boss has been scouting for a wideman as he looks to remodel his squad ahead of the new season and it is thought that Depay is one of those he has tabs on. A further report suggests that Depay would have little opportunity this season for first-team football at United and that they could buy the player and loan him back to continue his football development.

Louis van Gaal will of course be very familiar with the players qualities at close-quarters from his time at the helm of the International team. Depay has so far made 10 appearances for the national team after his debut in 2013 and stared at the World Cup, coming on as sub for Bruno Martins Indi and 20 minutes later becoming the youngest ever Dutch World Cup scorer.

Depay has been with PSV since 2011 and has gone on to make 60 appearances as a winger, scoring 17 goals with 2013 considered his breakthrough season.
