David Moyes Ready to Face old Club Everton

"I'm not an emotional person," David Moyes said. "I'd rather get on with the game. And that they will, when Manchester United host fifth place Everton at Old Trafford. This will be the first encounter between Everton and their former manager since Moyes moved to United this past summer.

Moyes took the reins of Everton in 2002 when they sat near the bottom of the table and were facing relegation. With little money and resources, Moyes built a quality side that regularly finish in the top half of the league table. In 2004-2005, Everton finished fourth in the league and qualified for the Champions League. The club failed to reach the group stages and was eventually knocked out of the UEFA Cup. Everton, under Moyes, also qualified for the 2007–2008 and 2008–2009 UEFA Cup competitions and they were runners-up in the 2009 FA Cup Final where they lost to Chelsea.

Though Moyes admits he will always have fond memories of his time at Everton, he is now the manager of United and they are his main concern and purpose. Moyes stated: "Obviously I have fond memories. You don't just throw 11 years away. But I have had to divorce myself from it. United is my team now and all my concentration has been on them.”

As has Moyes, Everton too have moved on with Roberto Martinez now the new manager. Martinez has Everton playing exceptional well with six wins, three draws and one loss over the last 10 matches. Even with the loss of Marouane Fellaini, who Moyes grabbed in the closing moments of this past summer’s transfer market, Everton continue to roll forward.

United are vulnerable right now without Michael Carrick and Robin Van Persie, both nursing injuries so Everton may finally get that win at Old Trafford that has eluded them since 1992. Though there is a “certain” former Everton youngster that may have something to say about that.
