Crock Ferdinand ruled out for a month as United's early problems escalate

As if the 1-0 midweek defeat at newly promoted Burnley wasn't bad enough, Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has been left reeling by the news that England defender Rio Ferdinand is out injured for up to four weeks. Ferdinand suffered a slight tear in his thigh during training last week ahead of the Barclays Premier League opener against Birmingham and was initially expected to miss only two weeks of action. Missing man: Rio Ferdinand is ruled out for a month with a thigh problem But that estimate has been revised and Ferdinand will miss the champions' key clashes against Arsenal, Tottenham and potentially Manchester City on Sept 20.   Attack, attack!
