Cristiano Ronaldos conduct earns rebuke from Manchester United teammates

Published: 13 May 2009 - 08:25:34

The Sun claims Ronaldo was admonished for the disrespect shown to Sir Alex Ferguson when he was replaced during the second half of the derby. Ronaldo lingered on the touchline with hands on hips, shaking his head. Ronaldo was offered a tracksuit by United's kit man, but threw it on the ground. The paper quotes a United source saying: "A number were unhappy about Ronaldo's behaviour and told him so. A lot of these players have grown up with Alex Ferguson as their manager and do not like seeing anyone show him disrespect.' The report says Ronaldo accepted he behaved badly, and left the ground early embarrassed about his behaviour. Fresh reports from Spain linking Ronaldo with Real Madrid won't have improved Ferguson's mood this week. Although United continue to dismiss rumours that the 2008 FIFA World Footballer of the Year will leave, Spanish daily El Pais have said United will let Ronaldo go after July for a minimum of 80 million euros (£71.4 million). Last month, Ronaldo, who is contracted to United until 2012, poured cold water on suggestions that a 'gentlemen's agreement' assuring his move was in place, when he said: "I've responded to this question many times. I am happy at the club. 'I want to stay here. I feel at home here. I feel very happy here. We are the best team in England – that speaks for itself."
