Could Cristiano Ronaldo force a Manchester United return?
Ronaldo is believed to have demanded a £32 million a year deal, or be allowed to return to former club Manchester United.
Cristiano Ronaldo is said to have shocked the Real Madrid board, demanding a total of £32 million a year to make him the highest paid player in footballs history. This abominable salary would be made up from a combination of his wages, which would amount to £17 million a year, plus 100% of his image rights which adds a further £15 million.
Speculation has mounted regarding a possible return to Manchester United since earlier in the season Ronaldo expressed that he was 'sad' with his situation at Real Madrid. The 28 year old received a warm welcome on his return to Old Trafford earlier in the season and it was evident that he was touched by the gestures of the fans.
It is rumoured that United are preparing a £65 million plus player deal (thought to be Nani or Hernandez) to persuade Madrid to part with their star player and lure Ronaldo back to Old Trafford, where he is idolised.
Ronaldo's ultimatum follows a season of dressing room disruption at the Bernabeu leading to the exit of Jose Mourinho, who has returned to Chelsea as expected. Manchester United fans would welcome the return of their hero, believing it would give them the boost required to recover from the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson.
Madrid representatives are yet to respond to the reported demands of Ronaldo but newly re-elected club president Perez is confident a deal can be arranged to persuade Ronaldo to stay.
