Contract wait suits Edwin
20 Oct 2007 - 11:43:35
Manchester United's veteran goalkeeper Edwin Van der Sar has yet to decide whether to extend his stay at Old Trafford beyond the end of the current campaign.
The 36-year-old Netherlands international is in his third season with the Red Devils, having previously spent four years at Fulham after making his name with Ajax and Juventus.
Van der Sar confirmed: "We will decide in December what we are going to do, the same as last year.
"At the moment I want to get back playing and get back to the form I was in before my injury."
Van der Sar has recently been sidelined by a foot injury, but is ready to make his return for Sir Alex Ferguson's side.
He added on the club's official website: "My foot feels good.
"I went away with the national team last week and, in my opinion, I could have played on Saturday. But the progress was not quick enough.
"There was no point in taking a risk and aggravating it, so I decided not to play.
"I'm not worried about it. I have been lucky in my career so far that I have not had many injuries. It is strange to have two weeks without playing a game. Last year, I had a calf injury, but that is about it.
"I am looking forward to playing again. When you are injured you have to work harder than when you are fit.
"That is why everyone wants to get back as quickly as possible to get playing again and feeling part of the team."
