Carrick guards against complacency

Michael Carrick admits Manchester United can hardly forget they boast a two-goal advantage over Schalke, but the midfielder insists it will not affect their approach. After last week's exceptional performance in Germany, United are on the brink of booking their third Champions League final appearance in four years. The only danger would appear to lie in conceding the first goal to a team that put five past Inter Milan in the San Siro last month. And Carrick concedes United simply can not afford to get sucked into believing their job is done."It does come into your mind the fact you are two goals up," the 29-year-old said. "But it is dangerous to go into a game relying on those two goals to get you through."The focus is to approach the game as normal and to try and win the game. Clearly, Schalke scoring five goals at Inter stands out and is something you have to take into account."We were well aware of it last week and knew all about their strengths and weaknesses. But we have been playing some good stuff at home and we will have to be at the top of our game again to get the right result."
