Burnley braced for United invasion
BURNLEY are bracing themselves for an invasion of Manchester United fans on Wednesday. The Clarets' first home game in the Premier League is against near-by neighbours United and a packed house is expected at Turf Moor. The club are advising both sets of fans to use the car parks in Burnley town centre ahead of the game to minimise traffic problems. The Millennium Car Park and St Peter's Car Park in particular are both are well sign-posted and are just five mintues walk from Turf Moor. Meanwhile the plan for Rossendale Clarets - the Valley's Burnley supporters club - is to run a bus for ever HOME game. Rossie Clarets Bev Todd said: “There is going to be a full house at every game and the parking will be horrendous. It was bad last year with just 10,000 or 12,000 at the matches so what is parking going to be like with 22,000 at every game” “On Saturday when we went to Stoke we ask the people on the bus if they would be interested and the majority of people from the Valley were up for it. “There is about 20 to 25 people that are interested but we will need to fill the bus every week. So we will try it for the first three or four weeks and if we can fill it then we will carry on." The fare will be £5 return with the journey starting at the Woolpack, Haslingden, around 12.15pm for a 3pm kick-off. The bus will then pick up at Rawtenstall, Waterfoot, Stacksteads, Bacup and Weir before going over the hill to Burnley. The bus will leave to return to the Valley at 5.15pm. It is essential to book a place to travel to the game. Anyone wishing to find out more or wanting to book a place should contact Bev on Rossendale 224924 or 07976519701.
