Brighton launch ambitious bid for Michael Owen

Brighton have launched an ambitious bid for Manchester United forward Michael Owen.

Owen, 32, has seen his chances at Old Trafford limited since signing on a free transfer from Newcastle in 2009.

He has only started 18 times for United, coming off the bench a further 34 times, with 17 goals.

Gus Poyet is now ready to offer the former England striker regular football, as they go in search of a play-off place.

According to a report in The Sun, Owen could move to the Championship club for a nominal fee.
