Berbatov backing United

Published: 01 Apr 2009 - 17:55:35

Dimitar Berbatov is confident Manchester United will recover from their recent wobble and get back to winning ways in the Premier League. Back-to-back defeats at the hands of Liverpool and Fulham have allowed the Anfield outfit to close to within one point at the top of the table, although the Red Devils still have the benefit of a game in hand. Bulgaria striker Berbatov, who was forced to miss his country's draw with the Republic of Ireland at the weekend with an ankle injury, has admitted that the international break has not come at an ideal time. But he has every confidence Sir Alex Ferguson's side have the capacity to get back to winning ways when they tackle Aston Villa at Old Trafford on Sunday, live on Sky Sports 1 and HD1. "We are a strong team and we all support each other," Berbatov told MUTV. "We know how to react after defeats. "International breaks are sometimes difficult, because you have two games and you come back and can be a little bit tired; then you have a game immediately after that. "But that's our job - there's no need to complain." He added: "Everything is possible. If you believe and have faith, and you really want it, it can happen. "We need to believe in our quality and our ability. I think the gaffer will know the right encouragement to give us to prepare for the games we have. We will stay strong to the end." The vast majority of the United squad are well versed in claiming silverware and Berbatov, who was not involved in last month's Carling Cup success, is keen for a share of the glory. He said: "I told the boys in the dressing room, 'you have already won the Champions League and Premier League'. "The only one who hasn't is me. I really want to win those trophies so I can say to the other players 'I am one of you'."
