Berba outlines United ambitions

Dimitar Berbatov has spoken of his targets for the season and admitted it is important for him to entertain as long as he avoids injury. The Bulgarian striker has made a stunning start to the campaign, scoring six Premier League goals to help preserve Manchester United's unbeaten record. He is hungry for silverware and determined to keep contributing throughout the season, although his main aim is just to play as regularly as possible. "My first target is to stay clear of injury. I think that's the first target for everybody. Then you think about what you want to do in the season," he told the club's official website. "Obviously you'd like to win everything, but it's not easy, so you think about how you can help the team - score goals, make assists, as much as possible." Berbatov plays with a style that can lead to criticism when he does not perform to his best, but when he is in top form makes him a joy to watch. And he concedes that it means a lot to put on a show for the supporters, saying: "That's my aim. You need to know when to slow it down, when to increase the tempo. "(Zinedine) Zidane was great at doing that. He knew what he could do with his touch and when a player is really sure in himself he can do great things. "I know what I can do and I try to do it." Berbatov believes he could drop back into midfield at a later stage in his career after admitting he does enjoy playing in different positions. He explained: "I keep trying to play in defence in training, but they all scream at me 'Go forward, go forward'. But I enjoy it. "You never know. Many people start as strikers and then move to the midfield. My father was a striker and then he moved back to the defence. "Maybe I'll enjoy playing in the midfield when I'm 37."
