Benzema keen on France stay
22 Jun 2009 - 08:36:21
Karim Benzema's agent has suggested that the France star would prefer to spend another season at Lyon rather than join Manchester United this summer.
Benzema, 21, is believed to be United boss Sir Alex Ferguson's number one target following the departure of Carlos Tevez and Cristiano Ronaldo's proposed transfer to Real Madrid.
Ferguson is a long-time admirer of the prolific striker and reports claim he is poised to launch a £28million move to sign the rising star of French football.
However, agent Karim Djaziri believes Benzema would be best served staying at Lyon for a further 12 months and then moving on after next summer's World Cup finals.
"Karim is on holiday at the moment and he is not thinking of moving," he said.
"He wants to stay in France for another year so that he can prepare for the World Cup and I think that Sir Alex knows this.
"Perhaps he wants to make an offer to Lyon. If that happens, then Karim will think about it, but as things stand, Karim wants to stay with Lyon for another year."
