Becks open to United return

David Beckham has admitted that he would welcome the opportunity to re-join Manchester United in the New Year. The England international is currently in America with Los Angeles Galaxy, but will head back to Europe once the MLS campaign comes to a close. The experienced midfielder enjoyed a productive loan spell at Serie A giants AC Milan last season, as he looked to maintain his fitness levels, and a possible return to Italy has been widely touted. However, Beckham has revealed that a move to England may not be out of the question. Keen to retain a place in Fabio Capello's plans ahead of next summer's World Cup, the 34-year-old knows he must be playing regular football in order to be involved. Best fansBeckham insists he does not mind where he finds first-team football, accepting that he would have to consider a switch to the Premier League should the opportunity arise. As a lifelong Manchester United fan he admits that his preferred option, should a move to England materialise, would be to head back to Old Trafford - where he left for Real Madrid in 2003. "I'd love to go back to United because they are the team I support," Beckham said in the Daily Star. "For me, they are the best fans in the world. They're the best club I've played for. "Manchester United is always a team that any professional would want to play for."
