Beckham desperate to beat United

Published: 15 Feb 2010 - 09:45:01

AC Milan midfielder David Beckham is hoping he can shoot his side to the Champions League quarter-finals as he prepares to face Manchester United.

Beckham won the Champions League final in 1999 when he was still with the Red Devils before moving on to Real Madrid and, if selected, Tuesday's match will be the first time he has faced his former club since he left Old Trafford in 2003.

He has pin-pointed Wayne Rooney as United's main threat and believes his England team-mate is currently at the top of his game.

He said: "It's one of the biggest games for me personally. But the most important thing is the team going through and beating United which I hope we do.

"I've always said Wayne is one of the best goalscorers in football. He's at a great club like Manchester United and he's doing what he does best - scoring goals.

"United are on fire, they're playing well. Wayne is scoring goals like he can. It's going to be a tough game."
