Bayern ready to ditch man-marking tactics as they try cope with Rooney

Manchester United star Wayne Rooney is such a concern for Bayern Munich that the German giants are ready to change their original game-plan for the Champions League quarter-final. Rooney has been in magnificent form for United this season, and Bayern are ready to ditch their usual man-marking tactics in their last eight clash. Bayern skipper Mark van Bommel: 'It will not be easy to deal with Rooney because he is such a good player. Top form: Wayne Rooney has been magnificent for United this season 'We normally man-mark players like him but I don't think we can with him because he is too good. 'We will have to defend zonally so that more than one player can take care of him.' United boss Sir Alex Ferguson rested Rooney for the Premier League match at Bolton on Saturday, ensuring he will be as fresh as possible for the first leg in Germany. Van Bommel is under no illusions about the size of Bayern's task against least season's runners-up. Tough test: Mark van Bommel is challenged by Stuttgart's Christian Traesch during their clash on Saturday He told The Sun: 'It will be a very difficult tie because United, along with Barcelona, are the favourites to win the Champions League. 'I also don't think it is an advantage for us to play the first game at home. 'But we played the first game at home against Fiorentina in the last round and we came through. 'If we draw 0-0 here and score in Manchester then we will have the advantage.'  Wayne Rooney and Rio Ferdinand fit for Manchester United's trip to Bayern MunichVidic: Bayern will provide huge test but we must go for win in GermanyMANCHESTER UNITED FC
