Bayern Munich have moved quickly to dismiss speculation that England midfielder Owen Hargreaves is set to join Manchester United.
The 25-year-old had claimed that he had received a fantastic offer from the Red Devils, but Bayern say that Hargreaves is a valued member of their squad and will not be allowed to move on.
Bayern press officer Markus Horwick commented: "I have just spoken with general manager Uli Hoeness and he is absolutely clear that selling Owen Hargreaves is not an issue.
"He has recently signed a three-year contract extension and will be fulfilling that deal.
"I think what Mr Hoeness says is enough to end any speculation.
"Owen Hargreaves will be staying with us for the remainder of the four years on his contract."
Hargreaves had previously told Bild: "The offer from Manchester United is fantastic.
"Now it's time for me to take the next step and develop myself further."
