Bayern: Ribery not for sale

Published: 30 May 2009 - 12:26:45

Bayern Munich general manager Uli Hoeness has slapped a 100million Euro price tag on French star Franck Ribery. The much sought-after winger has been repeatedly linked with Premier League giants Manchester United while Chelsea are reported to be considering an offer in the region of 50m Euros (£43.7m). But given the value put on Brazilian star Kaka during Manchester City's unsuccessful attempt to prise him from AC Milan in January, Hoeness reckons Chelsea would have to at least double their offer for Ribery. "If I hear that there was an offer for 125m euros (£109m) for Kaka, then Ribery has a market value of at least 100m (£87m)," Hoeness told the Bild newspaper. "But I don't want to talk about a fee we would consider because we want to keep hold of Franck." Ribery, 26, still has two years left on his Bayern contract so the German giants are under little pressure to cash in on their prize asset, as chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has pointed out. "Only FC Bayern decides what happens, however many millions are offered," he told Munich's Tz newspaper. "We do not want to sell Franck."
