Barca want Villa or Forlan

Barcelona president Joan Laporta has revealed that the club is looking to sign a new striker despite uncertainty over Samuel Eto'o's future. Eto'o has been strongly linked with Manchester City, Manchester United and AC Milan, but the Cameroon star has yet to announce his plans. And while Laporta has confirmed that Eto'o has been offered a contract extension, he admits he is unsure if the striker will remain at the club. Speaking at the assembly of the Spanish Football Federation, he said: "The club is waiting to hear from Eto'o's agent to see if he wants to renew. "We have made an offer of a new two-year contract and we are now just going to have wait and see if he accepts it or not." Despite the confusion over Eto'o, Laporta has confirmed the club has made an offer for Valencia striker David Villa and would also be interested in Atletico Madrid's Diego Forlan. "Regardless of whether Eto'o stays, the technical secretary has the intention of strengthening that position and there are players like Villa and Forlan who are very interesting," he said. "We know that [Villa] appears to have a deal with the club that would let him leave for a certain amount. "We have made an offer and we are waiting to see if they have changed their minds, because Valencia have told us that they have no intention of selling him."
