    Anderson to miss Cup Final

    18 Feb 2009 - 09:52:06

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson does not think Anderson will have recovered from an ankle injury in time to play in the Carling Cup Final against Tottenham.

The veteran Scot has also confirmed that Gary Neville and Wes Brown will miss the Premier League clash with Fulham. Neville is recovering from a virus, while Brown is still some way short of full-fitness after an ankle operation.

Anderson is still some weeks away from a return to action after suffering an ankle injury in the latter stages of the Carling Cup semi-final win over Derby.

Ferguson is happy with his side's form though, saying before the Fulham game: "If we win the gap is five points, which is a fantastic incentive for us. It would allow us to look at the league in its proper perspective.

"We didn't know whether going to Japan for the Club World Cup was a hurdle we could overcome. Even I had my doubts. But winning that match at Stoke on Boxing Day kick-started our season."
