Alex Ferguson hails versatile Ji-sung Park as Korean seals new United deal

Sir Alex Ferguson has hailed Ji-sung Park as one of his star players after confirming the South Korea midfielder has been handed a new contract at Manchester United. The versatile Park has agreed a two-year extension to 2012, much to the delight of his Old Trafford boss. 'We are always pleased to secure the future of our star players and Ji-sung has proved himself to be a fantastic professional and an important, versatile player in our squad,' said Ferguson. 'Therefore, we're delighted he's signed a new contract.' Park said: 'I am so pleased to have this new contract. 'We have achieved great success over the last four years and won many trophies. It is a great experience for me to play at this magnificent football club along with other world famous players.' The 28-year-old joined United from PSV Eindhoven for £2million four years ago and has scored 12 times in 127 appearances. During the Red Devils' Far East tour this summer, Ferguson confirmed his belief that a deal would be done with Park, whose wages are estimated at around £65,000-a-week.
