Gianluigi Buffon's agent has dismissed reports linking Manchester United with a swoop for the Juventus goalkeeper.
Buffon, 32, has emerged as a possible Old Trafford successor to Edwin van der Sar.
On Thursday, United goalkeeping coach Eric Steele suggested that the 39-year-old Dutch keeper would retire at the end of the season.
However, agent Silvano Martini has cast doubt on stories linking the Italy international with a move to Manchester.
Buffon has yet to make an appearance this season after injuring his back during the World Cup finals.
"I don't know where these rumours come from," said Martini.
"It is nonsense. Buffon is out injured for three months. Who wants an injured player?
"And it seems to me that the best player at Manchester United is the goalkeeper van der Sar."
