Wigan v Man City preview

Wigan go in search of their fourth league win against in-form Manchester City, live on Sky Sports 1 and HD1. The Latics have won their last two home games after a disappointing start at the DW Stadium. Roberto Martinez' side secured wins over West Ham then Chelsea in their last two games after losing their opening home fixtures against Wolves and Manchester United. Still very much an inconsistent side, they are yet to secure back-to-back wins this term and suffered defeat last time by Hull at the KC Stadium. No doubt disappointed with their performance on that occasion, the home side are expected to raise their game against their in-form Manchester opponents. City have been in superb form so far this term, winning five of their seven league matches to date. Mark Hughes' side, who were held to a draw at Villa Park last time, will be targeting yet another win to add to their string of impressive results so far. The Blues' only defeat this term was against their Manchester rivals back on September 20 which brought to an end their impressive run of five consecutive victories. Still with a game in hand, they will fancy their chances against the Latics on Sunday as they bid to maintain their challenge on the big four. Team news Martinez will assess the fitness of a number of key players before making any squad decisions. Honduras pair Hendry Thomas and Maynor Figueroa have returned from international duty having helped secure a World Cup place in midweek. Colombia striker Hugo Rodallega and Trinidad and Tobago forward Jason Scotland have also endured long trips back from South and Central America and will be tested late in the day. The Latics boss, though, has no new injuries to contend with and will assess only tiredness for those returning to training this week. City striker Robinho is said to be nearing match fitness but will likely miss out on Sunday as he continues to recover from a stress fracture. Kolo Toure (heel) looks doubtful for the trip to Wigan whilst Pablo Zabaleta (hamstring) will almost certainly miss out. Joleon Lescott is a likely absentee after suffering a knock to his calf. Craig Bellamy (groin) and Martin Petrov (knee) will both face late fitness tests. Possible starting Xls:Wigan: Kirkland, Melchiot, Boyce, Bramble, Figueroa, N'Zogbia, Diame, Thomas, Rodallega, Scharner, Scotland Man City: Given, Richards, Bridge, Sylvinho, De Jong, Petrov, Barry, Wright-Phillips, Tevez, Bellamy, Adebayor
