Wardle vows City spending

Manchester City chairman John Wardle has vowed to back manager Stuart Pearce in the transfer market this summer, despite takeover talk dominating the club.
Wardle's future as chairman has been thrown into doubt with a consortium headed by Ray Ranson hoping to take control of the club, but he has pledged to find funds to strengthen the Citizens squad.
He said: "It is important that our supporters know that whatever happens with regard to potential new investment, the board will support the manager in the transfer market.
"Funds were made available by the board for squad strengthening in the winter window, although we were unsuccessful in bringing in all the players we targeted.
"We will provide significant support again this summer."
