Vieira plays down injury fears

Recent Manchester City signing Patrick Vieira is confident that he can make a major impact for his new club in the second half of the season.

The 33-year-old France international has joined the Citizens from Internazionale and is keen to put recent injury problems behind him.

He told The Sun: ""I miss the rhythm of the games as I played little in the last few seasons.

"I am capable of putting matches together, but we must do it intelligently. I will talk to the boss. There will come a moment where I won't be able to play every three or four days.

"I will have to skip a game as I can't play six matches on the trot.

However, Vieira is unimpressed by pundits who have questioned his ability to compete at the highest level, adding: "I've heard a lot of things said about me.

"It makes me angry because I believe I still have a lot left in me and I can still do a lot.

"In the game against Bolton there are two things. I played 90 minutes without any niggles physically or any pain afterwards.

"I ran during the 90 minutes and even though not everything was perfect, it went well. It was positive."
